OUTTA' JUICE
Through paper mache sculpture, adorned with modified Minute Maid labels, Outta Juice aims to explore 21st century climate anxiety, disillusionment, and dissonance. With the world's wealthiest almost solely responsible for the climate crisis and the average person left powerless to solve it, many like myself have retreated to a state of apathy to get through the day. As recycling juice box straws was how many were introduced to the concept of our carbon footprint, and revealed to be less than consequential in aiding solutions to the crisis, it serves as an apt metaphor for the loss of hope many are feeling. The piece sets out to capture a dialogue between my own childhood optimism, and adult pessimism.
